Semester in Switzerland is an opportunity for students from other schools majoring in hospitality management or business to gain international and practical experience.
Gain credits while you immerse yourself in local culture and practise a new language. Explore Switzerland all year round: ski or hike in the Alps, explore beautiful towns, discover exquisite wines and local cuisine - Switzerland offers endless possibilities! Spend your weekends visiting European hotspots, easily accessible by train or plane in just a few hours.

When can I start?

  • There are 4 possible starting dates: January, April, July or October

How long can I stay for?

  • Option 1: Choose one 11-week semester from the choice listed 
  • Option 2*: Choose two 11-week semesters & internship (worth 3 credits, pending approval from home university)

If you choose to study for two semesters, spend six months in the classroom, then take part in a six-month internship (worldwide or paid in Switzerland – minimum salary in Switzerland is CHF 2,212.-)

* This must be organized when submitting the application package due to visa processing times

Designed to offer the comfort and privacy you will need to study or relax, modern double standard rooms are included in the fees. Rooms with single occupancy and double deluxe rooms with a spectacular lake view are available at an additional charge. All bedrooms are equipped with wifi, direct phone lines, tasteful furniture, and include an individual study space as well as storage and wardrobe space.

How do I apply?

Required documents:

  • High-school diploma for gap year students

  • University/College transcripts – Recommended minimum overall GPA of 2.6

  • If already enrolled, a letter from your home university confirming courses to be taken at HIM

Admissions requirements:

  • English language proficiency of TOEFL 550 or IELTS 6.0 or equivalent

  • Applicants must be 18 years old or over
