QS rankings again place Hotel Institute Montreux in the top eight institutions in the world for hospitality management, confirming that we offer the best of hospitality and business education and preparedness.

We are delighted to be recognized, once again, as the seventh-best hospitality management school in the world, says Ulrika Björklund, Dean of HIM.

"The results of this year’s ranking highlight the consistency in quality delivered by the faculty team at HIM. We are grateful to our industry partners for all their support in bringing the real world into the classroom. Our collaboration ensures that our curriculum is aligned with all trends and new developments, setting our students up for successful careers".

While 2021 was the first year that our school was rated among the world’s top 10 schools, our continued impressive performance has kept us at the top in both 2022 and 2023. We are particularly pleased at how we have maintained our excellent scores for academic and employer reputation.

Why HIM is among the best hospitality schools in the world

1. Our students are highly valued by employers

Our students enter their internships and first professional positions with not only solid theoretical knowledge, but finely honed skills that are the result of our dual Swiss model that integrates theory and practice. Through numerous industry partnerships and an ever-growing list of alumni who return to share their success stories with current students, the curriculum is firmly rooted in the day-to-day reality of the industry, which supports our students’ employability and career development.

"Our close collaboration with industry partners breathes real life into the classroom – real problems, real challenges, real insights, all of these equip our students to graduate with an accurate understanding of the challenges they will face in the workplace," explains HIM Dean Ulrika Bjorklund.

2. We and our partners share a strong academic reputation

The strong academic partnership we nurture with Northwood University (US) guarantees the quality and competitiveness of our educational approach. The hospitality management program at Northwood is one of the few accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), which solidifies our positioning as a business-minded hospitality school.

"The combination of our academic programs with high-quality industry partnerships helps our students develop key business skills, giving them access to numerous career opportunities, " explains Dean Bjorklund.

The Bachelor of Business Administration has also been fully accredited by FIBAA, an objective measure of the advanced level of academic rigor of the program.

3. We work to stay ahead of the curve

We are committed to maintaining a standard of excellence, never satisfied with staying with what may have worked yesterday, but instead creating a brighter future through innovation. Our ever-changing curriculum ensures that our students are ahead of today’s trends, covering topics including digitalization, artificial intelligence, and business sustainability.

"New positions are being created that didn’t exist before, technology continues to evolve, sustainability is increasingly important – we stay attuned to changes in the industry and prepare our students accordingly," shares Dean Bjorklund.

4. Our community is one of our strongest assets

Maintaining the level of academic recognition, we have achieved is a combined effort that reflects the dedication of everyone involved, from operations to academic staff, current students, and alumni.

"Being a small, ‘boutique’ school means that every student can engage with faculty and guest speakers, ask questions, and create a solid network of peers," explains Dean Bjorklund. There is a real sense of family that permeates the atmosphere.
