Student life is more than studies. On campus or off campus, you can explore your interests, learn new skills, build life-long friendships, and develop both personally and professionally.
In addition to great leisure activities, themed events and extracurricular clubs, HIM is ideally located to maximize living in Switzerland. Be it outdoor or cultural activities you seek, the choices are unlimited.
As an HIM student, you have access to Let's Go Fitness, Switzerland's largest gym chain. Soccer, cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, and badminton, with weekly training and external competitions are also available. The Swiss Education Group Sports Day brings students together from across all sister schools once a term.
Each term starts with a bang when students literally break the ice by smashing an ice block! This launches you into a long line of banquets, themed events, and cultural nights where you experience world-class hospitality first-hand while sharing great food and fun with your fellow classmates.
From whisky and truffles to perfumes and digital marketing, and much more, extracurriculars are a fun and interactive way to broaden your horizons and gain new skills. Industry experts are brought in to share their passion and knowledge through master classes, practical classes, and demonstrations.
A hub for ambitious students
The HIM Business Club is a student-led initiative that brings together ambitious minds passionate about turning ideas into action. With a focus on collaboration and real-world application, the club offers workshops, pitching sessions, and expert-led discussions. It's more than just a group—it's a dynamic platform for entrepreneurial growth, where students tackle business challenges, gain hands-on experience, and inspire each other to create value and drive innovation.
The next generation of leaders
Elected by fellow students to represent the student body, the ambassadors strive to improve the student experience on campus. Fostering a spirit of collaboration, the Student Ambassador Forum (SAF) works together as a mini-company, with each member serving in a different capacity.
SAF involvement on campus includes organizing events and parties, promoting student activities on social media, putting together the yearbook, and serving as bridge with school management.
We strive to create an environment where students thrive academically, emotionally, and physically through holistic development, positive relationships, and support systems.
At HIM we prioritize the wellbeing of our students, for we recognize the significant impact it has on their overall health and success. We are committed to fostering an environment that promotes and supports wellbeing in all aspects of life.
Our approach to wellbeing is all-encompassing and includes physical, mental, emotional, and social aspects. A holistic approach is crucial in creating an environment where our students can thrive.
To ensure the wellbeing of our students, we are dedicated to the following principles:
Creating a supportive culture where students feel valued and respected through open communication and empathy.
We organize workshops on different aspects of wellbeing (stress, time, and conflict management)
We are dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and fostering a safe environment where students feel comfortable seeking help. We provide access to counseling services both on and off campus.
We collaborate with local wellbeing organizations and professionals to enhance the range of prevention services available to students.
A student counsellor is available on each campus to assist you when you are sick, help you book medical or dental appointments, and handle any medical emergencies.
Being a student is a unique time in your life with unique opportunities and pressures. Navigating course work while figuring out what you want to do with your life can feel overwhelming. Our school counsellor is here to provide a listening ear and tools to help you get a better understanding of your personality and purpose.
We offer regular workshops where you can gain strategies to better manage your stress and anxiety: mindfulness, meditation, yoga, stress management, time management, cultural immersion, conflict management. Take advantage of our Meyers-Briggs assessments and competency evaluations to identify your personality traits and develop your own unique brand of leadership.
Every term, we offer free excursions to some of Switzerland’s top cities and destinations so you can enjoy all the country has to offer. Whether you’re visiting the capital of Bern, or another sought-after site such as Lucerne, Zurich, or Interlaken, you’ll have many opportunities to explore, shop, dine, and discover Switzerland’s unique culture.
Switzerland also provides year-round opportunities for outdoor activities, such as mountain biking, hiking, swimming, river rafting, sailing, water-skiing, golfing, horseback riding, and paragliding. With nearly 200 winter sports resorts across the country, there are plenty of activities, including skiing, sledding, skating, hockey, and ice climbing to keep you busy in the winter months.
Switzerland also offers an extensive range of cultural experiences. Enjoy world-renowned exhibitions, trade fairs, film festivals, museums, and musical events throughout the year or stroll through the many traditional Christmas, antiques’, and farmers’ markets.
